General Goal:
Creating the ability in students to identify physical, mental, and social needs, concerns, and complications of family members, who are expecting a child, particularly mothers and infants, who are exposed to danger, and acquiring knowledge about the importance of education in preventing complications in case of vulnerability of mother and child.
Behavioral Goals (Learning)
At the end of the program, students must be able to:
1. Describe abnormal cases or vulnerability of mothers during pregnancy, in labor and delivery and puerperium.
2. Define hyperemesis gravidarum and its causes, as well as nursing measures and necessary educations.
3. Define and classify blood pressure disorders in pregnancy.
4. Explain nursing cares and preeclampsia and eclampsia treatments.
5. Classify various types of bleeding during pregnancy and explain their causes.
6. Elaborate on various types of miscarriage based on clinical signs and symptoms, and explain the relevant nursing cares and treatment procedures.
7. Define hydatidiform mole, as well as its symptoms and signs.
8. Describe differential diagnoses, therapeutic and nursing procedures of mole.
9. Define placenta previa and name its various types.
10. Express diagnosis, treatment, and nursing care procedures of placenta previa.
11. Define placenta abruption, and mention its symptoms and signs.
12. Explain the difference between placenta previa and placental abruption.
13. Define ectopic pregnancy and describe its signs and symptoms.
14. Explain diagnosis, treatment, and nursing care procedures of ectopic pregnancy.
