General Goal

Increasing the level of pervasive knowledge and recognition of gynecological diseases and infertility, detection of health and illness states of patients, and making appropriate decisions in prioritization of implementing relevant healthcare processes

Behavioral Goals (Learning)

At the end of the program, students must be able to:

1.     Describe the anatomy of female reproductive organ (internal and external).

2.     Explain the physiology of female reproductive organ in different life stages (puberty to menopause).

3.      Elaborate on clinical examination and diagnosis procedures in gynecology examinations.

4.     Explain symptoms and diagnosis (clinic and para clinic), management of vaginitis, cervicitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

5.     Analyze the diagnosis and management of cervical, vaginal, and volvulus intraepithelial diseases.

6.     Analyze the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal bleedings with regard to the age of patients.

7.     Analyze the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic masses across ages.

8.     Explain the diagnosis and management of polycystic and hirsutism ovaries.

9.     Name puberty disorders and explain their management.

10.  Explain the diagnosis and management of benign breast diseases.

11.  Express the diagnosis and management of various types of pelvic pain.

12.  Name various types of urinary incontinence (UI) and explain the causes of each type.

13.  Explain diagnosis and management of urinary incontinence.

14.  Describe the diagnosis and management of pelvic relaxations.

15.  Differentiate primary amenorrhea from the secondary and list the reasons of each type.

16.  Explain endometriosis, and its control and diagnosis methods and complications.

17.  Explain the management of infertility with regard to the causes of infertility.

18.  Explain assisted reproductive techniques with regard to the causes of infertility.

19.   Analyze facilitating factors, causes, and management of cervical malignancies based on its stage.

20.  Analyze facilitating factors, causes, and management of uterine malignancies based on its stage.

21.  Analyze facilitating factors, causes, and management of ovarian malignancies based on its stage.

22.  Explain the diagnosis and management of malignant breast diseases.

23.  Explain chemotherapy and radiotherapy procedures, complications, and cares.

Teaching Methods:

Teaching methods include programmed lectures, question and answer, participation of students in class management through presenting conferences, group discussions and simulated patients.

Responsibilities of Students:

·         Active and on-time attendance in classes (absence from more than three sessions is equal to course failure)

·         Pre-studying based on prescribed topics and references

·         Studying the taught topics to answer the questions asked by the professor

·         Active participation in class discussions

·         Performing tasks assigned by a professor

·         Providing conferences, oral and written presentation of them in class through novel and various teaching methods

·         Being prepared for final exams

Assessments of Students:

20% developmental evaluation

5% active and on-time attendance in class

20% providing and presenting conference and journal club

15% class activities and answering the oral exam

40% final exam
