Department of Midwifery

The first midwifery institution, which trained nurse midwives, was established in 1962, Mashhad. A few years later, Toos School of Midwifery, affiliated to the ministry of health of that time, trained midwifes with associate degrees until 1987. The first BSc program of midwifery was held in 1976 by Narjes Institute, which was affiliated to Mashhad University and separated from ministry of health at that time. In 1987 and with merging of university and ministry of health, these two associations initiated their activities in a field called midwifery at school of nursing and midwifery in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Toos midwifery building is a monument left from 1962, which is currently the location of center of clinical skills of the school, as well as a library, computer and community hall, and a few classrooms.
